Easter Sunday

I haven't been to church for as long as I can remember. I was 12 years old when I was confirmed, and given the choice whether or not I wanted to continue going to the weekly Sunday services. Today marked the first time in a long while that I would actually step through the doors of a church with the intention of participating. My brother who recently became a member of this Presbyterian church was asked to play his trumpet during the service. I joined my mother, father, and sister in law for this occasion.

To say the least, I actually enjoyed going to this Easter service. Historically it's a bit different, and today's sermon was no different as it spoke about hope for the future, forgiveness of the past, and renewal of relationships. Sunday brunch at my brothers apartment followed; ham, eggs, home fries, dessert and coffee.

We (my family) are all entering a new beginning as the next generation of the Duckett family is soon to be on the way. In short my brother is to be a father, I am to be Uncle Mark, and my parents to be grandparents. I'm wrestling with the idea, as I try and grasp the whole concept and how it effects everyone. It's definitely a nice polarity to all the bad news that surrounds us in mainstream media these days.

Peace and Love
